Question

Where to go for a Consolidation Loan? (credit card)?

I am a full-time student, and last year I got screwed over by my University on my student loans and financial aid. I ended up having to pay the rest of my bill on credit cards and now I cannot get that cleared up fast enough... I want to consolidate these credit cards. Is there a place I can go that will allow me to do it as a student? What can I do? I feel trapped. I have managed credit cards very well and have always been able to pay in full at the end of each month, so I am really embarrassed about this. I hate even talking about it.

Dont be embarrased! You used your cards for something worthwhile at least! Try a local credit union. Many of them are more than willing to help someone out as long as you have the means to pay it back.

Credit card debt consolidation adds up all your unpaid balances and converts them into a single payment. This payment is far lesser than each of the individual payments. When you finalize a plan with a debt consolidation company, the company repays your dues to your creditors. Then you make a single payment to the consolidation company every month. Your average new interest rate is much below the old interest rate.

You may talk to your bank about a consolidation loan or talk with the school and your card company regarding the matter.
