What is the penalty for credit card fraud in Texas?

My card was sent to someon else by mistake, and they charged up a bunch of stuff, I have read numerous things saying not much is done if the charges do not exceed $2,000.

im from canada and all i know if it is bad enough theres the death penalty but i don't think this applies to this crime but you might get fined some money or sentenced to jail i don't know how long though cause im from canada
