Question
"Phone Credit Card Scams"?
Has anyone received a call offering a Credit Card from Hoover State Bank? They wanted me to send $100, Western Union to Atlanta, GA, to cover the processing/other fees (which would be refunded to me after a period of time). The Receiver was, Hoover and (my last name). I was told I would receive the card UPS next day and a representative, Abby Palmer, would follow up with me. I was even given a pin # for the card. Because it was Xmas and I wanted the card to do additional shopping I fell for it. I never received the card and the phone number they gave me is only for transactions and they ask for a card # + the pin #. Since I never received the card and validated it this number is of no use to me. I have tried to look up Hoover State Bank in Atlanta, but there doesn't seem to be a Hoover State Bank in Atlanta. Even if I can't get my money back I still want people to know that this telephone scam is going on.

It is a scam. A couple years ago my husband got sucked into a credit card scam too, I don't remember what the name of it was supposed to be, but he paid $250 to them for a $1000 credit card and never received it. After 3 months he received a package of papers from them offering him a debit card. He called the phone number that they originally gave him but it had been disconnected and it listed a new number, so he called the new number and it was the same thing with another new number. After like 4 or 5 new numbers he finally talked to somebody and told them he wanted his money back and they said ok we will issue you a refund and you should receive it in 2 weeks. 2 weeks later no refund. He tried to call them again but this time not only was the phone number disconnected but it didn't give a new number. We looked up the company on the BBB and there were alot of reported scams for that company. As of this day we still have not ever received a refund or been able to contact them. Good luck on getting your money back. Hopefully you have better luck than we did.
