Question

Can you get prepaid Mastercard/Visa cards in the UK?

I have gotten rid of my "proper" credit cards but there are still a few things I'd like to buy online, which you have to have a credit card for, so I was wondering if there were any pre-paid cards you can get?

I think you can pre-pay monies onto any MasterCard/visa to allow you to still shop on line, providing you stay in credit.

Try www.cashplus.co.uk for Mastercard and www.bluecorner.co.uk for Maestro. I have cards from both.

I have a Titanium Cash Plus prepaid Mastercard from the Money Shop. It costs £9.95 to buy and either £4.95 a month if you use it all the time or only £1.00 if you use it once in a blue moon. It can be re-charged at either a Money Shop or the Post Office free. It is invaluable for buying over the internet. There is a Visa prepay called 3V. You charge this at a Payzone shop. It costs £3.50 plus the amount you want to credit. The security code and account number are emailed to your email address, a fresh one for each transaction.
