new sales representative needs ideas!?
I am a new sales representative for Information Technology equipment (i.e. computer hardware, software, VOIP phone systems) Can anyone tell me the best way to build a new clientele? ( I was given no current customers) I would like only people with sales experience opions. Thanks.

I don't know if you're consumer or b2b so I have a couple ideas for both... Consumer: talk to local software stores (Best Buy, Circuit City) and see if you can buy/get their lists. You might want to call corporate, they should be able to give you only their customers in your area. Small ad in a newspaper or online with your contact information as opposed to your company's. b2b: cold call companies in your area and ask if they are satisfied with what they have and tell them what you have to offer. Talk to other sales reps and see if they have any leads for your area. I'm sure they've heard about things, but it's sort of taboo to work in someone else's territory.
