Flickr: Our dogs are Best in Show

So what if our dogs don't have the measured gait, glossy coat and full set of teeth that their Westminster Dog Show brethren boast? No offense to our furry friends who compete at the Kennel Club—you're quite fetching and cute and all. But it's the everyday dogs who capture our hearts. With those mutts in mind, Yahoo! News asked writers and photographers from Yahoo! Contributor Network and Flickr to share photos and stories of prized pooches in their lives. What dog-show qualities make them top dog to us? Jeff, 8, is a rough collie who was rescued from a northern Canadian First Nation reserve. Jeff's hair took two days of brushing and it filled two garbage bags.

He is a sled dog as well as a great bear dog who has chased off many bears on our forest walks. He is great with children and adults as he listens very well... that is until he scents a forest animal to chase.
