WEISER, Idaho (AP) — An Arizona-based company that builds workforce housing complexes for mining and oil companies is opening a plant in Weiser, Idaho that should bring about 75 jobs to the area.
Greenstar Building Systems spokesman Dennis Callum says the company plans to start hiring in mid-October and hopes to start production in early November. Positions will be available in management, carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical work.
The company purchased the 67,000-square-foot former Champion Home Builders location. Callum said Greenstar is opening the new plant in Weiser because it did not have to make many changes to the Champion building and Weiser is close to the Dakotas and Canada, where oil and mining booms are creating a need for housing.
Callum said two large projects are already lined up for the plant in eastern Idaho.
