TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Workers at Libya's Abu Attifel oilfield have shut down production in protest over salaries, two industry sources said on Saturday.
The field is operated by Mellitah, a joint venture between Libya's state energy firm, the National Oil Corporation, and Italy's Eni.
"The workers began shutting down production on Wednesday. This is related to salaries," a worker at the field told Reuters by phone.
A senior Libyan oil industry source confirmed the shutdown.
"We hope some kind of proposal can be found to avoid a major problem," the source said.
