Using WordPress on Mobile DevicesIs it possible to use WordPress on smartphones or tablet devices? Yes, it is!
On larger devices such as an iPad or tablet PC, you could access your WordPress site through a browser, but an app is a far more elegant choice.
There are WordPress apps for Android, Nook, BlackBerry Playbook and Apple devices (links below).
Here’s the official video for the Android app:
Before you invest your time downloading, installing and setting up the Android app, you might like to take a look at some of the reviews to see if it is for you.
WordPress Android App
As you can see from the graphic, the total number of positive reviews is high, but there are a lot of people giving it a one star rating too. And a lot of the most recent comments report a range of problems, from not being able to login, stats not showing and difficulties editing posts.
I have the WordPress app installed on my Galaxy S2 smartphone. I’ve tested it and it works perfectly. What I don’t like about it, and why I don’t use it, comes down to my personal taste and my dislike of the fiddly nature of using a smartphone to manage WordPress – it has nothing to do with functionality of the app.
I don’t think I would feel the same way about larger devices, such as a tablet PC.
Whether you decide to use the app depends upon your mobile device, lifestyle and preferences. If you travel a lot it makes sense to use it, and if you have something larger than a smartphone it makes sense too.

The reviews for the WordPress app for Apple devices are much more positive, and it’s available for iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch.
