Facts about the National Small Business Association
HISTORY: Founded in 1937 as the National Small Business Men's Association. Changed its name to the National Small Business Association in the 1960s. Merged in 1986 with Small Business United and became National Small Business United. Changed its name again to National Small Business Association in 2003.
HEADQUARTERS: Washington, D.C.
MEMBERSHIP: 65,000 small businesses
MISSION: Advocates for small businesses in the federal government on issues including access to loans and other capital, taxes, health care, regulations, contracting, exports.
GOVERNANCE: 32-member board of trustees, made up of small business owners from around the country and from different industries.
