We’ve already seen Xeni Collection offer a fashion range of elegant clothing for those with low mobility, and now UK-based app Blue Badge Style aims to identify those establishments which are fashionable at the same time as remaining accessible for wheelchair users.
Those behind the app – led by founder Fiona Jarvis who is a wheelchair user herself – rate stylish places to go out in the UK according to their inclusiveness of disabled, elderly or injured people. Restaurants, bars, hotels and entertainment venues are given a Blue Badge if they have at least some help for less able customers, as well as a tick rating out of five for accessibility, facilities and style ambience. Users can then allow the app to access their location via GPS and see the establishments closest to them that they will be able to enjoy with dignity. The Blue Badge Style app aims to offer information on disabled facilities at trendy locations, as well as drive custom towards businesses that make an effort to cater for people with mobility issues.
