Man vs. Wild, Survivorman and Dual Survivor all share a common theme: survival.
For outdoor enthusiasts, it’s a scenario that may occur. For others, it’s an uncomfortable reality that can be viewed from the safety of the living room.
Americans have a sense of adventure. Whether trained for outdoor survival or not, many have a calling for the wilderness.
As much as technology has made our lives comfortable, nature has remained the same. The wilderness remains a place that is apt to inflict as much harm to a 16th century explorer as to a 21st century adventurer.
So for local law enforcement, local convention and visitors bureaus and travel organizations… the threat of missing persons in the surrounding wilderness can be detrimental to the local economy.
It’s a job that takes as much preemptive measure in disclosing the environmental dangers of a place, and when necessary: issue a statement surrounding tragedies and loss.
