Superior Group (Superior), an international workforce and business
solutions provider, has once again signed on as a Growth Stage sponsor
of the 2012 Venture Forum, a partnership between two well-established
venture forums: Buffalo Niagara's annual Bright Forum and Albany's
SmartStart UNYTECH Forum, happening in Buffalo, NY on May 16 - 17,
2012. The event connects early stage, high-tech start-ups with venture
and angel investors from across New York State in the hopes of
igniting new business partnerships. Once funding is established,
Superior will offer recruitment and outsourcing services to assist
fledgling start-ups reach their next growth stage.
This year's forum has an expanded reach across New York State, with
the inclusion of the Center for Economic Growth's SmartStart and
UNYTECH. This addition is a positive step toward establishing an
entrepreneurial ecosystem for Western New York and increasing the need
for skilled resources across multiple disciplines beyond the sciences,
including IT, marketing, manufacturing, and research.
"Given our expanding business in applying human resources solutions in
regional and global high-tech sectors, our firm sees creative
partnerships like the Venture Forum as a critical piece of growing a
knowledge-based economy," said Scott Stenclik, president of Superior
Technical Resources.
Superior's relationship with the Bright Forum began in 2010 in
partnership with its lead organizer, UB's NYS Center of Excellence in
Bioinformatics & Life Sciences (CoE). Recognizing the significant
growth opportunity life sciences could bring to the region, the
workforce solutions company designated an onsite staff member at CoE's
home office in the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus to provide client
support. Service offerings include customized staff augmentation
solutions, as well as human resources, consulting, and back office
administrative needs. Superior leverages proven business acumen to
allow lean, start-up companies to build strong foundations without a
lot of overhead. To date, over twenty life sciences companies have
engaged with Superior on talent needs.
"Events like Venture Forum are putting Buffalo on the map for
innovation and entrepreneurial leadership, but there is more to a
successful business than just a great idea," said Marnie LaVigne,
Associate Vice President for Economic Development at the University at
Buffalo. "Superior's human resources services allow organizations to
concentrate on their core competencies and to focus efforts on
fundraising, product development, and other critical pieces at the
early-stage."
This year's Venture Forum comes after the second round of Regional
Economic Development Councils, where Governor Cuomo announced the
formation of the NY Works Task Force, which is aimed at bringing
together industry leaders from the public and private sectors for
coordinated economic development, strategic plan implementation, and
job creation across the state.
As a member of the Western New York Job Readiness work group, Mr.
Stenclik will concentrate his efforts on increasing workforce
opportunities, improving the New York State Department of Labor's job
board, and providing training for emerging industries like the life
sciences and other high-tech sectors.
