Question
Resume help?
I have a hard time writing the duties, accomplishments and related skills for my resume. Here is what I have so far, please let me know if anything needs to be changed. I am an overdraft collector for a bank.
As an overdraft collector I contact customers on overdraft checking accounts. If the account can't be paid in full, I set up payments that are acceptable by OCC regulations. If accounts are not satisfied within the timeframe I set the accounts up for charge off and process the charge offs. Account maintenance, contacting branch associates, and following all of our departments proceedures are also part of my daily duties.
I have received several awards for attendance and being a team player over the past year.

Most people write resumes "for themselves", and unfortunately not geared towards what the reader needs to see. In reality, an employer needs to see (within 5 seconds) exactly what skills you have that matches his or her specific need. If you know in advance what those needs are you can gear your resume in that direction assuming you have that required skillset.
Formating is important in that it must draw the readers eye right to what is most important, namely, how your skills and accomplishments fill the employers need. Anything else (or that comes before that) a manager will feel like is a watse of time.

. Proceed/ed with charge offs

Just a couple of notes...in my opinion... if this is the description of your responsibilities on your resume, you need to list the responsibilities not write a paragraph. You should Not say "I" in your descriptions. Talk about yourself personally in your cover letter. Leave the resume easy on the eyes. use bullets to list the details, and I think the only paragraph you should have in the resume is in the objective.
As an employer keep this in mind. When we put out a ad for an open position, each time we have 40+ resumes to review, because I was so busy when i got to the resumes to review them the ones i found myself reviewing the longest & selecting for interviews were the easy on the eyes ones. I knew exactly what i was looking for & those details should not be hidden in a paragraph. My point being in most cases the person reviewing your resume is very busy & when they pick up that stack of resumes to review they will always look at qualifications first, chances are that they won't even waste time reading the cover letter unless you have to qualifications so thats where it needs to be specific & to the point, so that it makes it to the next pile.
GOOD LUCK !
I'm not sure what kind of resume you are writing. But in general, don't write paragraphs like this to describe your skills and accomplishments.
write like:
2005 -2007 Overdraft collector:
(insert bullet) established working relationships with customerson overdrafted checking accounts.
(insert bullet) setup payments per OCC regulations and account charge offs.
(insert bullet) consistently received award for being a team player and attendance.
Remember that the recruiter only gives your resume at most 1 minute of time to read it through. Make it short and to the point. Be sure to check the style and use action words to describe your tasks. Try not to use the words: helped, worked on. And don't list the things you do. Like account maintenance, what exactly do you do? Is it relevent to your job that you are applying? You only have 1 chance to impress the person you're trying to get a job from.
