- iBeacon and 5 Reasons Why MLB is the Right Brand to Succeed Business 2 Community
A friend and I are wanting to start our own kind-of home cleaning service, what are some tips and tricks?
We are both 17 and live in a community with over 800 homes and a lot of people who make some decent money. We both want to get out of fast food and be our own bosses by cleaning homes and what not. I have some what of an idea on how to run a small business but we don't want to fail and we want this to last until we graduate from highschool and go to college.4 months ago - 1 answers
First of all, you have to be 18 as there are legal requirements. And, NO, you can't do it as a 17 year old with your mama signing documents.
You have to set up the business as a separate legal entity. You will need a business license issued by your city code department. You have to have liability insurance as someone will sue you for damages or call the police and charge you with theft.
You have to be set up to collect and pay sales tax as a cleaning service has to charge and pay sales tax. That is state law,
You will need some form of advertisement that is effective or you will be out of business in 2 weeks.
You will need to set up an account with the IRS to report and pay income tax on a quarterly basis as a licensed business.
You will also need a business bank account, printed sales tickets, printed customer receipts, business cards, etc., all necessary paperwork of running a service business.
If you hire employees, you will need to meet all legal requirements for payroll record keeping, payroll tax reports, both federal and state, payroll taxes, and an accounting system to accommodate all necessary legal requirements.
You should consult an attorney and a CPA before you begin or you will find yourself knee deep in legal trouble,.
