Do you need a newer vehicle to become an independent contractor?

I have a 1988 ford e350 that runs great and I was thinking of using it for delivery work on the side

sorry in USA most if not all courier /delivery services
do not hire contractors with vehicles older than 2000.

as for making money, by time u do the real numbers
most independent contract couriers can make more
at fast food. that is real money after expenses and Hours.
