Do I need a business license to do odd jobs?

I want to do odd jobs to make some extra cash. It'll be things like mowing lawns, housecleaning; babysitting, petsitting, etc. I want to make business cards, a website, facebook page, twitter page and run ads in the local paper. Will I need a business license to do all of this? I just want to make sure I don't do anything illegally.
