you start with filing a fictitious name statement and check into the local and state business laws as to what licenses you may need. then you would have to have a place of business hours which will be accessible for your potential clients, advertising, and getting clients and building a reputation as being honest and doing a good job for your clients. Tax preparer work is basically busy only during the first three and a half months out of the year. there is no way of getting out of that and it would mean a lot of long hours during that time. you would need to budget your money to help you get through the slower times. though the Notary business is needed throughout the year it does not generate the same amount of income as tax business. For that you must build a reputation with customers as being honest and reliable.
