Question

How do you start your own business? Is college necessary?

I am a 5th year college student. I had to set out a semester. No, it was not for academic reasons. Although, it does seem like every year I barely get by. I have always wanted to go to school, but my passion is to start a business or businesses that can help other people in need. I know college is a good thing and it's hard to get a job without it, but I want my own business. Do you all think it is possible to teach myself with the assistant of people who have knowledge about a business. Also, I reside in W.V., but I would like to have a business elsewhere someday. Maybe, Florida. That's still open for discussion. Can anyone outline steps on how to start your own business. I want to operate a hotel someday. Also, if you all know of any sites or alternates for college than please let me know. Thank you all for your answers and honesty.

Go to www.score.org/mentors and enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a volunteer SCORE mentor. They will guide you through the process and you can meet with them as many times as you need to.

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide and is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

SCORE has 350 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 13,000 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business mentors.
