Question
Why does this hair stylist fool around in her business and then complain that the business is very slow?
I go to this beauty salon for a haircut. I usually have the owner cut my hair. She also has an assistant help her, but I prefer the owner since she does a better job. She complains that her business is very slow and is not sure how long it will last. But here's the thing, she complains about slow business, yet she drives customers away, including me. First of all, it's so hard to get a haircut there. Whenever I go there, she's not always there because sometimes she steps out to go shopping or she's running late because she went to a late party the night before. Also, 10am is their opening time and when I go there early around, 10:15am, they're still closed!!! And also, there was the one time when I went to the salon and saw her and asked if I can get my haircut. She tells me to come back in a half hour because she needs to run to the store. And to top it all off, wherever I get my haircut, she loves to cut my hair and chat with her friends while she's working. She's not fully focused on cutting my hair correctly. She's chatting with the other people at the salon and she's constantly answering her cell phone while cutting my hair.
After going to her for over 10 years, I finally had it and went someplace else. I mean, I feel bad because she needs the business since she's complaining that it's very slow, but she's driving people away, even people like me that's been going for so many years. What does she fool around in her business like this and then complain that it's slow? Does she expect to gain customers like this??

In my 44 yrs of research on this topic and others for and about small biz owners, I discovered
what you did but did scientific research when I did discover it--and the results make sad sense.
she is not an entrepreneur--she is a hobbyist who hopes to earn a profit doing hair. If she
cared about customers first, she would be an entrepreneur.
