Question

Is it possible to open a US based bank account in Mexican Pesos?

My boss wants me to find it out ASAP or he won't let me go home (it sucks, I know). I've spent the entire morning calling Bank of America, HSBC, US Bank, Citibank and even Banamex USA, trying to find any way to open an account in mexican pesos, but they all have told me that, even when there isn't any law that prevent this, they only manage business accts. in US funds. Is this a norm for all banks or is there any that could open a MX Pesos account in USA? In Mexico, in almoust any bank, you can chose your acct. to be handled whether in dollars or pesos.

Your answer will be really appreciated!! (I'll be able to go home, LOL)

Simple answer - No. They accept both in Mexico because the US dollar is the de facto world currency.

In the US you can open an account using Mexian Pesos, they will just be converted to US dollars when the deposit is made into the account.
Your US bank account can only hold US dollars. Not mexican pesos.
Sorry charlie.
