LLC creation/formation?

Okay, once an individual creates an LLC under his/her name, and let's say has a friend who does the same, can those two LLCs buy a property together? jointly? kind of like a buyer and co-buyer...so, LLC and co-LLC?

Yes, but and LLC can have multiple owners so why not just start the LLC together?
