What to buy or make to sell on ebay and etsy?

Ok I was wondering if I go to a flea market or walmart wherever what should I buy to sell on ebay and on etsy what can I make to sell on etsy

I have a friend who goes to garage sales and estate sales and buys collectible items such as dolls and computer items, then sells them on ebay. He generally makes a few hundred dollars a month doing this.
