I've been an eBay buyer nearly 10 years. The only times I've had trouble was with new sellers ie I got scammed! So now I only buy from people who have over 100 sales and 98% feedback score and I read the feedback too! Since then, I've never had a problem. Anyone selling to me, with over 850 purchases, never has cause for concern.
A brand new ebayer! The chances of being scammed are high. It could be some 9 year old mucking around! Anyway, a laptop is a difficult product, so easy for the buyer to find fault with and demand a refund and so easily damaged in shipping. It's going to have to be extremely well packed and it's going to be expensive to send tracked mail. I'd get a quote for shipping by FedEx and tell the buyer shipping is like $150 to send overseas by FedEx and so do they still want it? Hopefully they will say no and you
can mutually agree to cancel the sale. I don't think a laptop is a good item to sell internationally so restrict your selling to local and say buyers with over 10 purchase feedback only. Better to be safe than sorry. You could send the laptop, the buyer complain or whatever and get a refund by PayPal. That's just my advice as an experienced eBay user. Stick to buyer you can be confident are real and trustworthy!

Get the payment before u send it off!!
by Mommyybear - 1 year agoI would cancel the transaction. I would not trust any new buyer especially in another country. He is probably a Nigerian in London. They have a lot of scams in addition to claiming you never shipped the item. I would not take the risk with an expensive item. Make sure you put on your listing something about a buyer must have feedback before bidding and in your preferences block bidders. I will be surprised if the payment even gets processed in Paypal, the real Paypal, not a phishing site.
by Flower - 1 year agoAs a seller you are unlikely to be ripped off as long as you get payment before sending the item =). If you send the item before your paid then your opening yourself up to not being paid and out of pocket a 500$ laptop lol
