XML sitemap question?

Will having only an XML sitemap be good enough for indexing or would one need to add a sitemap page to their website for better SEO?

Is having both better than just having the XML sitemap or will the XML sitemap alone suffice?

The XML is the necessary one. A sitemap for users is usually good practice but not necessary.

If you are running a blog, the archives will be good enough.
