Which would be better suited for a domain name?

I just started a new film score blog and I have both a wordpress.com account and Tumblr. I want to purchase a domain name but I don't know whether I want to publish my Tumblr accound or Wordpress account to the domain site.
The sites are classicalcomp.wordpress.com and classicalcomp.tumblr.com

I hear SEO is better with wordpress but is it worth the extra money to integrate it into it's own domain name?

You can buy domain name. It will only cost you 7 or 12 dollars. Check fatcow.com or godaddy.com

Now, You don't need a domain name to get into SEO but if you have a domain name then you have an identity other than a blog website.

If you are running a business then you should go for a domain name. Just buy a domain name and configure your wordpress account for the domain. You don't need to buy web space and copy over entire blog.

Just buy the domain and use it on wordpress. Wordpress is great.
