Other than Facebook, how can I advertise my blogs and reach more readers?

Yes SEO on site is good but if you want advertise off site the cheapest place with the most variety is a gig on fiverr.
You can advertise on radio, collage cafe tv & do back linking gigs, classified ads and more and there are thousands to chose from.

Just like any other website. Activities should include: use good keywords (All In One SEO plugin or similar), regularly add informative posts to your site, have a social media plugin on your site, submit sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools & Bing Webmaster Tools, add Google Analytics script to your site, write articles on your niche & submit to article directories(article signature should include a link to your site, participate in suitable forums & agian have link in your signature, have signup form on your site for a regular newsletter.
