Has anyone done a Patent?

Has anyone patented anything? I found a co that will do it for me, but they want 20% of ALL my royalties after they sell it to a co. That seems a lot.
Round $3,000-$7,000 also jus to start. Then they get $20% forever. Will have to get a lifetime patent after its sold which is $10,000

that is very cheap assuming they pay all of the legal costs to file and prosecute the patent claims. You may never get the patent so they will never get licensing fees. Even if you get a patent who will fund the marketing costs? Many patents are granted and never get any licensing fees. I am in that category myself. Took 6 years to get the patent granted and much $.
