False advertisement case studies?
Are there any scientific studies revealing the effects of false advertising on a business?
It can be as simple as a 24 hour hot line that is only answered during business hours. When a customer calls a 24 hour hot line only to be redirected to an answering machine or not to receive a call back within a reasonable time, I would think that business would loose such a customer due to annoyance. Yet, I can't find any scientific studies that would agree with my above reasoning for any type of false advertising.
I have not heard of studies documenting the effect, it's probably a bit difficult to produce accurate statistics stowing the impact. I have wanted to write an article on how shady internet marketers are killing the golden goose with scams that cause people to not make any further internet purchases.
