Question

Can you get paid to blog?

I'm quite the avid writer, and I enjoy traveling but I don't exactly have the money to travel as much as I'd like, being a travel writer sounds boring and it's not like people read travel magazines as much as they used to, so I was wondering... is there a way to get paid to blog/vlog?

You may be able to find freelance travel article writing work, hopefully better paying than the $2 - $5 search engine fodder articles they outsource to the 3rd world. You would have to establish a reputation some how, perhaps by writing your own blog for a time. Some authority sites hire regular guest bloggers, I'm not sure how you would get connected.

One example article broker iwriter.com/ pays something like $250 for articles at first, graduating to about $4 after getting some good reviews. there are more elite article sources with higher quality, higher cost writers 'on staff'.

TextBroker.com pays based on quality
Article Quality payment per word payment per 500 words
2 stars: legible 0.7 cents 3.50 USD
3 stars: good quality 1.0 cents 5.00 USD
4 stars: excellent quality 1.4 cents 7.00 USD
5 stars: professional quality 5.0 cents 25.00 USD

Look through the resumes on freelance sites like odesk.com, elance.com you might see some higher priced writers listed.

yes you can, but it will take a whole lot of work. You will spend much more in the beginning than you will make, but that's how it is with any small business. Write blogs with strong, quality content; and do some thorough seo keyword research. Here are a few ways to monetize your blog:

1: Google Adsense
2: Affiliate Programs
3: Build an email list
